Thanks to Netgalley for this free ARC!

If you’re a fan of contemporary YA then this book is a book that you must read.

The Church Of America is a new religion led by Pastor Frick who declares that there is a rapture awaiting believers who are worthy. Belief in The Book of Frick has taken over America, but not everyone believes, including Vivian. But one day she finds that her parents are gone. With only two holes in the ceiling to indicate where they are gone.

Vivian was such a strong, likeable and gutsy character. I loved her determination to discover the truth behind the “Rapture”. She also seemed so real, because yes, parts of her character were vulnerable. In fact all three main characters (Vivian, Peter and Harp) all have their vulnerabilities – giving them much more depth. Although it was rather obvious that there would be a romance between Vivian and Peter, it was still brilliantly executed. Vivian is attracted to Peter as soon as she meets him, but there is no insta-love , yet again making it even better!

With a lot of books, the ending can be a major let down. Not with this book. Vivian Apple at The End Of The World had me sitting on the edge of my seat with my mouth opened wide. There’s a great twist and I did not see it coming.

Without a doubt Vivian Apple at The End Of The World has been one of my favourite books of the year and I look forward to it being published next year, and of course, the sequel!
