Review: In Real Life – Lawrence Tabak

In Real LifeIn Real Life by Lawrence Tabak

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Thanks to Netgalley for this free ARC!

Hooray! A young adult novel with a male protagonist!

Seth spends most of his time playing his favourite video game, however, he’s not your average teen gamer, he is an incredible player, with hopes of becoming a pro. But, when Seth does catch the attention of a pro Korean team, all of his dreams have come true. But there’s a problem: he doesn’t want to leave his Hannah, his new-found girlfriend.

In In Real Life Seth realises that sometimes, our dreams aren’t exactly a dream come true…..

This book was an exciting refresher to the YA genre, it tackles different subject matters, and whilst there is an element of romance in the book it is still not overdone.

Parts of the book were fairly predictable, which was a disappointment, however it was still exciting enough to keep me on my toes. As someone who knows little about gaming, I still found this an enjoyable book to read!
